The Implant Process
Acting as the tooth's root, a small titanium screw is surgically implanted into the bone and allowed to integrate into it. The bone grows around the implant forming a tight connection, which additionally slows or stops the bone loss that occurs when the root of a natural tooth is missing. Once the implant is firmly integrated in the bone, the dentist then works to attach the replacement crown on the top of the implant.
