To help counteract any anxiety our patients may experience, Patrick Toms DMD is proud to be the IV sedation dentist that many choose to help calm their fears while in the dentist chair.

IV sedation is the most intense form of sedation dentistry that we offer. Because it is administered through a patient’s bloodstream, one of its effects includes a rapid feeling of sedation, which results in partial to full memory loss.

Prime candidates for IV sedation include those who have strong dental phobias or who need to undergo a lengthy dental procedure.  

While under IV sedation, a patient’s heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation are closely monitored. If needed, additional drugs can be administered via the IV. And, it’s important to note that a patient still breathes on his/her own and can respond to requests while sedated.
